Acclaimed dungeon-delving board game Gloomhaven is to get a videogame adaptation, a new teaser trailer from publisher Asmodee Digital has revealed.

Developed by Flaming Fowl Studios, the digital edition of Gloomhaven is slated to appear on Steam Early Access in Q1 2018. According to Asmodee, the fantasy game will be a turn-based, rogue-like tactical RPG featuring branching narratives, character progression, randomly-generated dungeons and a huge variety of hero classes. As in the board game, players will command a small team of mercenaries, each with their own personal quests.

Designed by Isaac Childres, the original tabletop version of Gloomhaven was a massive crowdfunding success, with last year’s second print run garnering almost $4 million on Kickstarter. Featuring a smart action selection system and legacy game-style emergent narrative, the sprawling, big box Gloomhaven also proved a hit with critics, scooping a host of ‘game of the year’ plaudits.
