Polygon Pictures and Toho have streamed a new second trailer for the upcoming anime film Godzilla: Monster Planet.

With the emergence of colossal creatures taking over the planet, the humans are unable to compete. In 2048, a select number of humans board an interstellar emigration vessel, the Aratrum; its 11.9-lightyear journey will see them travel to the planet Tau-e in the Cetus constellation. However, after 20 years of space travel, they arrive at Tau-e only to find that it’s uninhabitable by humans. One young man onboard the Aratrum is Haruo Sakaki, who saw his parents killed by Godzilla when he was only four years old. He has thought of nothing but returning to Earth to defeat Godzilla. The decision is made to return back home, but the Earth they once knew has now become an alien planet. Can mankind take back its native planet and will Haruo get his revenge?

The new trailer focuses on humanity’s counter-attack on Godzilla and also features a glimpse of the theme song, White Out by XAI; her first single, which is released in Japan on 15 November.

The film is directed by Kobun Shizuno and Hiroyuki Seshita from a screenplay by Gen Urobuchi. Godzilla: Monster Planet is the first instalment in a trilogy of animated Godzilla films. It opens in Japan on 17 November 2017 and will arrive on Netflix soon after.
