The vastly under-rated sci-fi espionage drama starring J.K. Simmons in a dual role that astonishingly has failed to drum up any major awards has been cancelled.

In the US, it aired on Starz and is just about to reach its season two finale (airing Sunday, February 17).

However, is shopping the series to streaming platforms, for possible salvation.

“Hey #Counterpart fans, a bit of sad news… Starz has decided not to pick up our show for a 3rd season,” series creator Justin Marks shared on Twitter. “Fingers crossed that our wonderful studio, MRC, can find a way to keep the dream alive! But in the meantime, one more episode until the end of a chapter. See you Sunday!”
