Official pics have been released for Quentin Tarantino’s ninth film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood in Vanity Fair.

The movie tells the story of a former star of a Western TV series (Leonardo DiCaprio) struggling to make it in Hollywood alongside his longtime stunt double (Brad Pitt) during the Charles Manson murders in 1969 Los Angeles.

Their paths get further complicated by the fact that DiCaprio’s character lives next door to Sharon Tate, played by Margot Robbie.

On January 20, 1968, Tate married Roman Polanski, her director and co-star in 1967’s The Fearless Vampire Killers. On August 9, 1969, Tate and four others were murdered by members of the Manson Family in the home she shared with Polanski. At the time of her death, she was eight-and-a-half months pregnant with the couple’s son.

This script has been described as Pulp Fiction-esque in tone, and indeed Tarantino has assembled a sprawling ensemble for his ninth and potentially penultimate film ever. The writer/director has long said he plans on retiring from filmmaking after 10 films, so Once Upon a Time in Hollywood could be the beginning of the end.

The incredible cast also includes Timothy Olyphant in a major role, with Al Pacino, Kurt Russell, Damian Lewis, Bruce Dern, Luke Perry, Dakota Fanning, Emile Hirsch, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Scoot McNairy, and Nicholas Hammond filling out the cast.

The release date has apparently been brought forward from August 9th 2019 – which is the 50th anniversary of the murder of Tate and friends by members of Manson’s ‘family’ – to July 26th, 2019.
