Back in June, when news first broke about CBS finally getting around to expanding the Star Trek universe, rumors swirled about a new series starring Patrick Stewart reprising his role as Jean-Luc Picard, plus a mini-series and a new animated series. According to Variety, that animated series will be called Star Trek: Lower Decks and will focus on the support crew serving on one of Starfleet’s least important ships.

Now news comes that Michelle Yeoh is in talks to reprise her Star Trek Discovery role of Captain Emperor Georgiou for a stand-alone CBS All Access series.

Yeoh, as Captain Philippa Georgiou and then as the evil Emperor Georgiou from the Mirror Universe, was one of the most captivating parts of Star Trek: Discovery’s first season.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Yeoh is in talks with CBS to helm a Star Trek spinoff series of her very own, reprising her role as one Georgiou or another.

Will this follow Mirror Georgiou in her new role in Section 31? A dark, espionage-heavy Trek series would certainly be an interesting direction for the Trek franchise to take.
