During the Final Fantasy Fan Fest in Las Vegas, game director and producer Naoki Yoshida announced Final Fantasy 14: Shadowbringers – the third expansion to the massive MMORPG.

Introduced alongside an epic new trailer, Shadowbringers will add a whole bunch of new content to Final Fantasy 14 while taking players on a new quest to become Warriors of Darkness.

Some of that added content includes a new player race, multiple new jobs, an increased level cap, new areas, battle system tweaks, plus a lot of new things for crafters and gatherers to get up to. Of course, we can expect new dungeons, raids, trials and more too.

Additionally, there will be the introduction of an ‘NPC Trust System’ that will allow players to fight alongside familiar characters from their Final Fantasy 14 adventures. There’s going to be a New Game Plus mode added so you can replay main scenario stories. And players will also be able to travel to other servers on the same data center to visit friends.

More immediately, though, will be the introduction of the Blue Mage job in Patch 4.5. Taking inspiration from similar roles in previous games in the series, the Blue Mage uses learned monster actions as part of their skillset along with other magical abilities.

The new class will be available to anyone who owns the base game A Realm Reborn, has another job class at level 50 and has completed the 2.0 main scenario. When you pick up the Blue Mage job you’ll start at level 50 and unlock new skills and quests just like any other job.

Final Fantasy 14: Shadowbringers is scheduled for release in Summer 2019. We can expect to hear more about the expansion over the coming months at future Fan Festivals in Paris and Tokyo this coming February and March.
