Disneyland Paris are holding auditions for Disney and Marvel characters

If you’ve found yourself dancing away while cosplaying at a convention as an iconic Disney character, or maybe even striking a heroic pose while cosplaying as a Marvel superhero, then Disneyland Paris are looking for you.

Disneyland Paris will be holding auditions in Leeds and London this September, looking for “enthusiastic and highly energetic” female and male face characters to join their Characters and Parades department. It’s not just famous Disney characters that are required for participating in the parade and cavalcades. They are also looking for people to perform as Marvel characters.

The actual characters that Disney want people to play are not mentioned (if you do make it through, you do not pick the character you want. Plus, you could end up performing as multiple characters). As well as sharing similarities and distinguishing characteristics of their iconic characters, height is also an important factor when it comes to fitting into the costumes that already exist. Here is the main criteria:

  • A basic level of dance is required.
  • Male candidates should be between 178cm to 191cm tall.
  • Female candidates should be between 160cm and 174cm tall.
  • Character and parade candidates should be between 137cm and 192cm tall.
  • No visual tattoos.
  • Candidates must speak French or English.
  • Candidates must be 18+.

If you do attend, you are required to bring your CV to submit, comfortable clothing and to not wear make-up.

The first audition takes place on Sunday 9 September 2018 at 10:00am at the Yorkshire Dance Center in Leeds. Full details of the Leeds audition can be found by clicking here.

The second audition takes place on Tuesday 11 & Wednesday 12 September 2018 at 10:00am at the Pineapple Dance Studios in London. Full details of the London audition can be found by clicking here.

If you are successful, the role will commence from October 2018 for a minimum of three months.

Good luck to all those who audition. I worked as a performer and parade dancer there 8years and was an incredible experience.

It was one of the hardest most rewarding place of work.

You need to dance and acting / skin experience is a major bonus. You will only be a face character if you are in the height of 5’6 – 5’7 (villains 5’9) and it is all about face shape and body shape – harsh I know.

Disney choose your characters and you will spend a majority of your time in skins. (Depending on your height will depend what characters you play- for example Mickey Mouse is for those 4’9 -5’1)

It is hard work and so very different from cosplay.

    Bon Chance x
