Bandai Namco has announced that the release date of upcoming action RPG Code Vein has been pushed back into 2019.

Code Vein was originally scheduled to be released on September 28th 2018, but the developer has decided to take some extra time to further develop the game in order to “exceed the expectations for already have of the title.”

Code Vein has received an enormous amount of positive feedback from eager fans who have received hands-on time with in-development versions of the game over the past nine months,” said Hervé Hoerdt, vice president of marketing and digital at Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe. “Armed with knowledge of how well the game has already been received, we made the decision to postpone the release of Code Vein to further refine its gameplay in an effort to exceed the expectations fans already have of the title. It was a difficult decision to make, but we feel it is the correct one.”

Having been hands-on with Code Vein ourselves on a couple of occasions, we felt the game has been in a decent shape for some time. Unfortunately, it’s never been long enough to plunder the depths and intricacies of such a difficult and expansive title, but nonetheless, it never felt like drastic changes were needed. Bandai Namco seems to agree and it sounds like this is more for a period of refinement and polish over any significant alterations.

Heavily inspired by the Dark Souls series, though with a more sped-up and anime edge, Code Vein sends you into a post-apocalyptic world where you’ll venture with a number of A.I. companions to take down some very tough foes. Your hero can make use of all sorts of supernatural abilities, including vampiric moves that can consume the blood of your enemies. Pretty savage, huh?

Code Vein will be released for PS4, Xbox One and PC in 2019.
