PlayStation Plus games for July announced

Sony has confirmed the next batch of games PS Plus subscribers will be able to download as part of their membership for July, including Absolver and Heavy Rain on PS4.

Absolver is a hybrid RPG and fighting game that has you venturing out into the land of Adal to prove your worth against rival brawlers. It’s a shared world experience, meaning you can duke it out with computer-controlled scrappers or take on actual players to prove your dominance and gain loot. What makes the game even more interesting is that you can build your own ‘deck’ of moves to take into each fight and can even change stances in the middle of combat to open up a different set of attacks. It’s a very cool concept and worth a swing if you enjoy your fighting games.

Next up is Quantic Dream’s noir-tinged narrative adventure Heavy Rain. It follows four characters who are drawn together by a series of kidnappings and murders by ‘The Origami Killer’. It follows the choose-your-own-adventure template the developer established with games like Fahrenheit and is continuing to experiment with in Detroit: Become Human – so expect lots of quick-time events and potential for character deaths. It’s a little ridiculous and riddled with plot holes, but it can be a bit of fun overall if you just run with it.

Meanwhile, PS3 players get kooky platformer Rayman 3 HD and ghostbusting shooter Extreme Exorcism. The list is rounded out on PS Vita by intergalactic smash-em-up Space Overlords and completely bonkers but also quite brilliant puzzler Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma.
