Omega Labyrinth Z western release cancelled

Omega Labyrinth Z – the overtly sexual and definitely NSFW dungeon crawler RPG from Matrix Software – will not be released in Europe and North America, the game’s western publisher PQube has announced.

The game, which has you lead a party of schoolgirls through a cave in search of “Holy Grail of Beauty”, has already been banned from sale in the UK, Germany and Australia.

The UK’s Video Standards Council wrote that the game’s sexual content – which includes touching and arousing young girls, removing their clothes and identifying items by rubbing them between their breasts – was “unacceptable to the majority of UK consumers” and concluded that the game “has the potential to be significantly harmful in terms of the social and moral development of younger people”.

After the scathing report, PQube tried to appeal the decision but it was ultimately declined. Now, rather than continue to navigate through difficulties with ratings boards, it has decided to completely cancel the game’s western release. They wrote the following in a statement on Twitter:

“PQube strives to release Japanese content for its fans as close to the source material as possible. In the case of Omega Labyrinth Z, while PQube has worked with all relevant age rating bodies in their respective territories, PQube must respectfully comply with the wishes of the platform holder and have therefore withdrawn any future plans for Omega Labyrinth Z’s European and North American release on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.”

Punch Line, the next game the publisher is bringing to the west later this Summer, does not appear to have run into the same issues as Omega Labyrinth Z. In that game, you play a high school student named Yūta Iridatsu who becomes a ghost and has to avoid looking up the skirts of too many girls or he’ll faint and cause a meteor to crash into the Earth. That previous sentence is 100% true.
