“I don’t know if I’m allowed to say this or not but I don’t think it’s going to matter: I’m the voice of the king,” John DiMaggio said at a press conference at MCM London Comic Con today, confirming his role in Disenchantment, Matt Groening’s new show for Netflix.

The Adventure Time voice actor says the cast is all Simpsons and Futurama alumni and is “stacked with great people”.

When asked if a Netflix show allows for more bad language than a network TV show, he said it wasn’t like that.

“That’s the beauty of it, Matt is brilliant and the people who write the show are brilliant. They can be really dirty and filthy without being dirty and filthy. And it’s a better way to tell a joke. I, unfortunately, am not that smart so I go to the gutter immediately. They paint a very beautiful picture of the gutter.”

His description of the show is also brilliant, and does sound incredibly timely.

“It’s as if the Simpsons fornicated with Game of Thrones. It’s fantastic. It’s right on time, it’s just arrived at the perfect time.”

“You’ll see it, it’s really, really funny,” he told the press room. “I wish I could tell you all about it, everything you need to know. But it’s up to you, you gotta watch and do the do. But I’m really excited about it.”

Disenchantment is released on 17 August 2018 on Netflix.
