Risen from the ashes MMO, Final Fantasy XIV, has hit the milestone of 10 million players worldwide.

That figure represents the total number of cumulative players (including free trial accounts) and not the number of currently active accounts. Still, that’s a pretty impressive figure when you consider the state the game was in at launch.

A complete revamp of the game, A Realm Reborn, plus regular updates and two expansions have helped get the game into this successful position. Stormblood, released back in June, was the most recent major addition, introducing new areas, jobs, dungeons and a host of other improvements.

The land of Eorzea is about to enter a further period of celebration with the start of the Moonfire Faire seasonal event. New quests and another showdown with Ultros await, while players can also earn new loot and gear.

If you’re interested in seeing what all the fuss is about, you can sign up for a free trial account yourself. You’ll get access to all content up to level 35, be able to create up to eight characters and be free to dip into all available jobs and classes with no restrictions on play time.
