The CW‘s fifth(!) DC superhero show has released its first trailer and we’re liking what we’re seeing. The idea of an older hero, one with a family, a past and perhaps a few more scars than he’d like to admit, is really compelling.

Plus, as you’ll see, he has a much more hands on approach to crime fighting than some of his colleagues.

However, if you think that means Oliver Queen and Jefferson Pierce will have a lot to talk about, you might be shocked to learn that the possible five-way crossover won’t be happening. It seems the Black Lightning universe isn’t the same one that regularly sees Arrowverse staples like The Flash crossover with Supergirl. Boo!

Black Lightning is scheduled to premier in the 2017-2018 season on The CW. We’re guessing Sky will pick it up in the UK but as soon as we know for sure we’ll let you know.
