We hold ourselves to high standards here at MyM and – not unlike the BBC’s mission to inform, educate and entertain – we like to think we also impart some crucial knowledge every issue.

For example, did you know that it took more than two million LEGO bricks (see page 12) to create the 120 sculptures in The Art of the Brick: DC Super Heroes exhibition? That if it survives cancellation, Class Season 2 (page eight) is likely to include a whole load more Doctor Who Easter eggs? Or that Tom Hopper (who might soon be appearing in Game of Thrones!) uses the experience of real friends in the army to flesh out his characters?

If those nuggets of information have opened your eyes even a little, then you’ll no doubt be interested to hear about the time Nick Fury (see page 26) comically climbed the Old Man of Hoy in Orkney in search of a terrorist base. Or discover that A Silent Voice director Naoko Yamada (page 15) never discussed the main character’s deafness with the voice actor playing her. Or find that David Bowie’s house (page 23) makes a great narrator. While we’re on the subject of music, did you know video game Victor Vran: Overkill Edition (page 29) contains an adventure based on Motorhead’s 40-year history as a metal band? We hope you’re taking notes, as there will be a quiz at the end.

Further fun facts include the knowledge that when it came time to film bonkers horror The Void (page 62) the original location was too unstable and they had to shoot in a school. And did you know that Iron Fist comic artist Mike Perkins (page 66) suffered at the hands of his brother when he was a nipper, thanks to the kung fu craze of the time? Or that ex-Battlestar Galactica co-stars Katee Sackhoff (see page 82) and Tricia Helfer are besties who snuggle up on the couch to watch Helfer’s show Lucifer every week? Well, there’s plenty more where that came from, so get reading! Class dismissed.
