Issue 59 of MyM magazine is out now, featuring Matt Damon and the cast of The Great Wall, Marvel TV show Legion, John Wick 2 and our hands-on test of the Nintendo Switch!

EDITOR’S LETTER

What an amazing time to be alive! We’re only two months into 2017 but there’s already so much entertainment heading your way you’ll be tempted to take a duvet day (or five!). It’s such a busy time we’ve barely had chance to glance at the news – how is that new go-getting president doing; and is the UK still in Europe?

For starters, it’s a new anime season and our guru has been sifting through the winter releases to point you towards only the finest streams (see page 48); while Amazon Prime Video has dumped all 26 episodes of Ronja, The Robber’s Daughter online and we’ve already watched them all to give you our verdict (page 57). If internet-based anime isn’t your bag, we’ve also got seven pages of disc-based goodies to float your boat (starting on page 50), as well as all our regular movie and television reviews (page 70).

The world of film continues to keep us entertained, and we sat down to chat with Matt Damon and cast about The Great Wall for our cover story (page 15) and with John Wick: Chapter 2 director Chad Stahelski (page 76). And while both Mr Wick and TV’s The Walking Dead (page 68) are about to make an imminent return, we couldn’t help look even further ahead and sneak in questions about the Highlander reboot and Blade Runner 2049 respectively.

TV also continues to deliver strong shows and give the movies a run for their money, with American Gods (page 12) and new X-Men series Legion (page 76) both looking like great fun. But it’s a blast from the past that has captured our attention – thank you Sky Box Sets. Who’s got time for the news when there are seven seasons of The West Wing to devour? So while we keep overhearing some pretty sweary talk about an out of control American president, we couldn’t disagree more – Josiah Bartlet’s doing an amazing job! We just don’t know how we’ll manage to ration his good deeds and make them last four years…
