The sleeve of the eleventh volume of Kanae Hazuki’s Suki-tte Ii na yo (Say, “I Love You”) manga is announcing that a live-action adaptation of the romance manga has been green-lit. The film will premiere in Japanese theatres in 2014.
The romance story centres around Mei Tachibana, a 16-year-old girl who has never made friends at her highschool. One day, Mei accidentally injures Yamato Kurosawa, the school’s most popular boy. Yamato becomes interested in her, and one-sidedly believes they are friends. He protects her from a stalker, and does so by kissing her.
The manga was launched in 2008, and it was adapted into an anime series in 2012. The anime and original manga have recently been licensed for a US release by Sentai Filmworks and Kodansha Comics respectively.
