Mark Hamill may be bowing out of the universe’s biggest space opera when Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits cinemas in December this year, but he’ll be waving a significantly less-glowy sword before then when season two of Knightfall comes to the History Channel in July.

“I play Talus,” Hamill told the main stage audience at MCM Comic Con London in an exclusive video clip. “He’s a drill sergeant training these young initiates to become knights. He’s old, he’s cranky, he’s a bearded badass.”

A clip following the message showed Hamill’s Talus clashing with fictional Templar leader Landry du Lauzon, played by Downton Abbey’s Tom Cullen.

“Some brothers believe Landry may yet be saved,” Hamill’s character says. “I am not one of them. Leave us Landry. Free of our rules, free of our vows. Leave us and never return.”

Hamill also teased that Sky customers will be able to catch up on season one of Knightfall, which is coming to Sky One On Demand shortly: “That’s the season that really got me hooked and prompted me to join the show.”

The voice actor – known for his portrayal of The Joker and confirmed as Chucky in the Child’s Play remake – apologised for not being at MCM Comic Con London, joking: “At least I have a good excuse. I have a thing with a guy… Have fun, but not too much fun without me, OK?”
