4. Pachislo Kizoku Gin (1954)
This gambling manga follows the story of Ginya Otonashi, a university student who dreams of becoming a novelist while he writes for a monthly pachinko magazine (pachinko is a popular Japanese arcade game, comparable to a vertical slot machine). One day Ginya competes in a secret pachinko contest and discovers his natural flare for the game, leading to his discovery of the world of competitive pachinko. Although only a few volumes of the manga were ever released, they were transformed into a full-length anime series in 2001.
