Terminator reboot gets a working title

In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment, James Cameron talked about how his own views on humanity and how new film is coming together.

“I tend to be optimistic about people and our capacity to solve problems,” he told Yahoo. “When I think of us as empathetic beings, I think we’re going to get through this OK. When I see how people lose their empathy when they get into positions of power, then I lose that hope.”

“We’re calling it, Terminator: Dark Fate,” Cameron reveals. “That’s our working title right now.”

Even as he says “we,” Cameron is quick to note that this is Miller’s show all the way. “Tim’s a very willful and opinionated director, and he’s got his own ideas for the film. I’m kind of like the Pips — he’s Gladys.”

This will be the sixth film in the Terminator series, but for James Cameron, it will be a direct sequel to Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), which will completely disregard the three films in which Cameron wasn’t involved: Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003), Terminator Salvation (2009) and Terminator Genisys (2015)

According to IMDB, the cast and character names are as follows…

Arnold Schwarzenegger…The Terminator
Mackenzie Davis…Grace
Linda Hamilton…Sarah Connor
Brett Azar…T-800
Steven Cree…Rigby
Natalia Reyes…Dani Ramos
Gabriel Luna…Terminator
Enrique Arce Enrique Arce
Fraser James…Major Dean

Not much is known about the new movie, but Gabriel Luna, who appeared as Ghost Rider in ABC’s superhero series Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is thought to be the new cybernetic killing machine.

However, the Terminator Fans site claims to have “eyewitness” proof Mackenzie Davis is playing a machine in the new movie. According to the report, a fan witnessing the shoot in Cartagena, Spain spotted “a muscular blond woman, 1.80m tall, with an arm made up as if she had suffered a deep wound, letting on a metallic skeleton.”

Apparently, Jude Collie plays a young John Connor, who was played by Edward Furlong 28 years previously.

Terminator: Dark Fate is slated to be released on November 1, 2019. While the film was previously scheduled for November 22, Warner Bros. just made the significant move of shifting DC sequel Wonder Woman 1984 from its November 1, 2019 slot to June 5, 2020, which prompted the Charlie’s Angels reboot movie to take its place.
