THE END IS NIGH! Amazon has revealed that its highly anticipated Prime Original series Good Omens will premiere on 31 May 2019 on Prime Video.
Based on the book by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, the series stars Michael Sheen (Masters of Sex) as the angel Aziraphale and David Tennant (Doctor Who, Jessica Jones) as the demon Crowley.
The plot sees the end of the world set in motion, forcing a fussy angel (Sheen) and a loose-living demon (Tennant) who’ve become overly fond of life on Earth to form an unlikely alliance to halt Armageddon.
Shame they’ve lost the antichrist, an 11-year-old boy unaware he’s meant to bring upon the end of days, forcing them to embark on an adventure to find him and save the world before it’s too late.
The Pythonesque opening titles have also been revealed, with the two characters wandering through a world that could have sprung from Terry Gilliam’s cartoon imagination.
Amazon has also revealed three images, including filming of the series and stills from the episodes.
The series also stars Jon Hamm, Frances McDormand, Nick Offerman, Jack Whitehall, Miranda Richardson, Adria Arjona, Michael McKean, Anna Maxwell Martin and Mireille Enos. The six episodes have been directed by Douglas Mackinnon.
Good Omens will launch globally on Prime Video in the UK and US (and over 200 other countries and territories) and will also air on BBC Two in the UK at a later date. Amazon Prime Video made the announcement at the bi-annual Television Critics Association (TCA) press tour.
