Game of Thrones’ Ser Meryn & Syrio Forel to bury the hatchet at MCM Birmingham

Brutal knight Ser Meryn Trant and Syrio Forel, the master swordsman he (allegedly!) murdered, will be burying the hatchet at MCM Birmingham this March, with Game of Thrones actors Ian Beattie (Alexander, Vikings) and Miltos Yerolemou (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, The Danish Girl) both set to attend the NEC show.

Belfast-born Beattie played the sinister Ser Meryn Trant in five seasons of HBO’s fantasy epic. While he may literally be a knight in shining armour, the cowardly, bullying Ser Meryn is also one of the series’ least likeable characters – and that’s saying a lot! Fortunately, his villainy doesn’t go unrewarded, with the ignoble knight suffering a spectacularly gruesome end at the hands of Arya Stark, who blames him for Syrio’s death.

While many Game of Thrones fans believe that Syrio Forel is still alive, viewers last saw Miltos Yerolemou’s character holding off Ser Meryn and a posse of Lannister guards with a nothing but a wooden sword in order to give Arya time to flee. The former First Sword of Braavos, the dashing Syrio comes to King’s Landing where he is hired by Ned Stark to train his martial-minded daughter in the Braavosi ‘Water Dance’ sword fighting style.

MCM Birmingham Comic Con comes to the NEC on 23-24 March 2019. Tickets to the show are available here.
