We’ve all see the kidnapping scenario played out in films before, but for Vietnamese action film Furie, the execution is on another level entirely. Furie stars Veronica Ngo (Paige Tico in Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Tien in Bright) as a mother with a certain set of skills who will stop at nothing to get her daughter back.

Hai Phuong (Veronica Ngo) has moved to the countryside since becoming a mother. After her little girl, Mai, is kidnapped by a trafficking ring, Phuong undertakes a relentless chase in an effort to rescue her. Unbeknownst to the kidnappers, they didn’t just kidnap any little girl, but the daughter of a former gang leader.

The film has been picked up for a US release by Well Go USA, who have uploaded a subtitled trailer for your viewing pleasure. In it we see Hai Phuong described as “super cool” as she beats up just about everyone that crosses her path; engaging in fights in the street, at the market, on a boat, on top of a train and while driving a scooter.

Written and directed by Le Van Kiet, with fight choreography by Samuel Kefi Abrikh, the film also stars Phan Thanh Nhien, Mai Cat Vi and Thanh Hoa. Ngo also serves as producer.

Furie opens in Vietnam on 22 February 2019 and in the US on 1 March 2019. It is to be distributed internationally by Arclight Films.
