Wit Studio has released the first animated promo video for its upcoming Viking epic Vinland Saga, together with details of upcoming series’ main cast. The Attack on Titan animator’s adaptation of Makoto Yukimura’s Norse-themed manga is slated to stream exclusively on Amazon Prime later this year.

Created by Planetes author Yukimura in 2005, Vinland Saga chronicles the adventures of hot-headed young Icelandic warrior Thorfinn, who is on a quest to avenge the death of his father at the hands of mercenary leader Askeladd. Joining Askeladd’s company in order to duel him, the teenage Thorfinn finds himself caught up in the war-torn politics of 11th century England and the rise of King Canute.

Bungo Stray Dogs star Yūto Uemura plays the teenage Thorfinn, while Shizuka Ishigami voices him as a child. Meanwhile, Ghost in the Shell: Arise’s Kenichirō Matsuda appears as Thorfinn’s late father Thors. Vinland Saga is helmed by Shuhei Yabuta, previously the director of 3D animation on fellow Wit Studio shows Attack on Titan and Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress.
