The 2019 tour gathers selected works focusing on the theme of love in one way or another, aiming to provide a more comprehensive picture of Japanese relationships – from conventional love stories, LGBT issues, familial devotion and transgressive attractions to the devastation felt at the loss of love.

DC EXHIBITION: DAWN OF SUPER HEROES

This exhibition features more than 200 original comic pages, around 300 preparatory sketches and concept artworks for the cinema, together with 45 original costumes, models and props used in the iconic films, as it celebrates DC’s rich history, unique mythology and iconic superheroes and supervillains such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and The Joker.

FRIGHTFEST GLASGOW

It’s full scream ahead as FrightFest returns to Glasgow Film Festival for a 14th fearful year, with this year’s film line-up including The Dead Centre, Here Comes Hell!, Black Circle, Dead Ant, The Rusalka, Automata, Finale, The Witch: Part 1 – The Subversion, Freaks and The Hoard. Lords of Chaos also screens on Thursday 28 February as part of FrightFest and tickets go on sale 24 January (GFF members) and 28 January (general release).

SHEXTREME FILM TOUR

The uplifting cinematic celebration of women in adventure – positively transforming the way real, diverse inspiring women are portrayed on screen and behind the lens in extreme sports and adventure – returns with its highlights programme tour of the South West. Surf Girls Jamaica is showing (including Q&A with the film’s talented makers, Lucy Jane and Joya Berrow) and the event also showcases the UK’s first women of colour longboarding crew: Hey Girl Dreamer.

AIRECON

This friendly and inclusive analog gaming festival is great fun whether you’ve come alone or with a massive group. As part of a partnership with Travelling Man it offers a library of over 350 games that can be borrowed from free throughout the event. Buzz was there in 2018 and can also highly recommend getting your nosh on at Burger & More, which is just a short walk from the event.

Now in its 12th Year, UK Games Expo (UKGE) is the largest hobby games convention in the UK, appealing to families and the general public as well as tabletop enthusiasts. It’s held in the NEC with extra capacity in Hilton Hotels, Birmingham.
