The upcoming film of dungeon-crawling fantasy anime Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? is to be released in the UK, North America and Australia, the film’s official Twitter account has revealed.

Subtitled Arrow of the Orion, the first feature-length instalment of Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? – ‘DanMachi’ for short – is slated to hit Japanese cinemas on Friday 15 February. Made by animation studio J.C. Staff, which also handled the 2015 TV show and its Sword Oratoria spin-off, the film is directed by Katsushi Sakurabi (Flying Witch, Heaven’s Memo Pad) with a script by original light novel series author Fujino Ōmori.

DanMachi tells the story of rookie adventurer Bell Cranel, who takes up dungeon-delving as a way to meet cute girls. As it happens, the first one our wannabe hero discovers is badass blonde swordswoman Ais Wallenstein, who ends up having to save Bell rather than the other way round. But while the teenage Bell only has eyes for the statuesque Ais, he becomes the unwitting love interest for his dungeoneering deity, perky goddess Hestia.
