Having already given us a collector’s edition of No Game No Life: Zero back in November, MVM Entertainment today releases the fantasy film as a standard Blu-ray. A feature-length prequel to Madhouse’s 2017 series, No Game No Life: Zero is set 6,000 years before step-siblings Sora and Shiro arrive in the game-centric world of Disboard and follows young colony leader Riku and exiled android Schwi as they quest for the legendary Suniaster.

Adapting the sixth volume of Yuu Kamiya’s light novel series, No Game No Life: Zero is handled by the TV series’ team of director Atsuko Ishizuka and screenwriter Jukki Hanada, whose credits include Love Live!, Sound! Euphonium and Rozen Maiden. Fans of the show will also find the film’s central couple rather familiar, with Sora and Shiro actors Yoshitsugu Matsuoka and Ai Kayano providing the voices for Riku and Schwi.

Also out from MVM this week is a standard Blu-ray version of Higurashi: When They Cry Season 1. Directed by Chiaki Kon (Junjō Romantica, Golden Time), Studio Deen’s 26-episode supernatural murder mystery series opens with high schooler Keiichi Maebara moving with his family to Hinamizawa, a seemingly peaceful little village that hides a terrible legacy of deaths, disappearances, paranoia and madness. We’re sure everything will be just fine…
