Renegade Game Studios has announced the April 2019 release of fantasy board game Proving Grounds, the first title in the US publisher’s new Solo Hero Series.

Designed by Kane Klenko (FUSE, Flatline), the upcoming title is a real-time solitaire dice game that charts heroine Maia Strongheart’s attempts to regain her royal birthright through a series of gladiatorial combats in the titular Proving Grounds. Proving Grounds will come bundled with a novella to help immerse players in Maia’s quest for the Sun Throne – Only the Strongest Has the Heart of a Wizened Queen by Monica Valentinelli.

We don’t have much in the way of gameplay details as yet, but Renegade Game Studios says that Proving Grounds will feature a training game and six different gameplay modules. Once they’ve learned the basics, players will be able to mix and match modules according to taste – including all six for a true test of their gladiatorial skills.
