Mario Kart mobile game delayed until summer

Nintendo has delayed the release of Mario Kart Tour – the forthcoming mobile version of its extremely popular and friendship-testing racing series.

In a Facebook post (of all places), Nintendo wrote that the game has been pushed back to summer 2019 as “our developers need more time to tinker under the hood to deliver the best possible Mario Kart experience for mobile.”

In fairness, we haven’t really seen or heard much about Mario Kart Tour since it was announced back in January 2018. What we do know is that, similar to Super Mario Run, it’ll be free to download at first and then supported by micro-transactions should you wish to purchase them.

Aside from that, it’s unclear whether we can expect it to be a fully-fledged Mario Kart game akin to previous releases or if it’ll be reworked somehow for mobile.

Mario Kart Tour will be available to download on iOS and Android in summer 2019.
