The official Gundam website has unveiled the first trailer for the Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway’s Flash movie trilogy, the first part of which is slated to premiere ‘next winter’. Initially announced last year as part of the ‘UC NexT 0100 Project’, studio Sunrise’s upcoming film series is based on the 1989 novels by Gundam creator Yoshiyuki Tomino.

Set after the Second Neo Zeon War, Hathaway’s Flash sees the victorious Earth Federation cracking down on illegal residents, deporting them back to the space colonies. The government’s abuses spark a series of attacks by the terrorist organisation Mufti – a group secretly led by none other than Hathaway Noa, son of Federation hero Bright Noa.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway’s Flash will be directed by Shūkō Murase (Ergo Proxy, Gangsta), while Deadman Wonderland and Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn RE:0096 screenwriter Yasuyuki Muto handles the script. Meanwhile, the films’ soundtracks come courtesy of composer Hiroyuki Sawano, whose work has been featured in anime series such as Attack on Titan, Kill la Kill, Blue Exorcist and Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress.
