Detective Pikachu may not be hitting theatres until May, but the first-ever live-action Pokémon movie already has a sequel in the works. According to The Hollywood Reporter, production company Legendary Pictures is currently developing a follow-up to the film, with 22 Jump Street writer Oren Uziel tagged to take on scripting duties.
A Warner Bros. and Legendary co-production, the Rob Letterman-helmed Pokémon: Detective Pikachu stars Deadpool’s Ryan Reynolds as the voice of Pikachu and Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) as 20-something former Pokémon Trainer Tim Goodman. The film sees Tim searching for his mysteriously-missing detective dad Harry, chasing clues through the neon-lit streets of Ryme City with Harry’s old Pokémon partner, wisecracking super-sleuth Pikachu.
