A new trailer on fighting franchise Dead or Alive’s YouTube channel has officially unveiled Leifang as a character in Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Scarlet, the latest entry in Team Ninja’s fanservice-heavy beach volleyball and bikini-collecting spin-off series.

Set to launch on the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in Japan on 20 March, the upgraded version of 2016’s Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 will feature a pair of new characters – cute Chinese martial artist Leifang and Zack’s shy assistant Misaki, a franchise newcomer who made her debut in Xtreme 3’s PC version, Venus Vacation.

Long-standing Dead or Alive fighter Leifang, whose inclusion in Scarlet was previously teased by Japanese video game magazine Famitsu, narrowly missed the cut for inclusion in the original Xtreme 3, whose nine-strong roster was determined by which characters’ themes were most downloaded by fans on the Japanese PlayStation Store.

Like its predecessor, Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Scarlet is unlikely to receive an official Western release from publisher Koei Tecmo. However, a region-free Asian version of the game that includes an English language option is expected to be readily available for franchise fans willing to shop around.
