2019 marks the 40th anniversary of Alien and 20th Century Fox kicked things off on Twitter a few days ago, teasing a new instalment in the Alien franchise with Amanda Ripley, along with the words, “Read. Play. Watch.” They’ve now revealed a new mobile game titled Alien: Blackout, developed by Rival Games and Theory Interactive, and published by FoxNext Games and D3 Go!.

Players take control of Ellen Ripley’s daughter, Amanda, in a survival horror game that takes place between the films Alien and Aliens. According to D3 Go!, Blackout is a new adventure that takes place after the events of the 2014 title Alien: Isolation.

Trapped aboard a crippled Weyland-Yutani space station carrying a blood-thirsty creature, you need to survive seven increasingly challenging, fear-inducing levels by balancing the controls of the space station’s emergency systems to skillfully guide the crew to safety. The unpredictability of both the mysterious alien and the ultimate fate of the crew will force you to make life or death decisions that will affect the outcome of the game.

A teaser trailer was released.

You can pre-order the game at the App Store and at Google Play.

Fox also tweeted that “there is still more to come.” If this game is the ‘Play’ part, then they’re also planning to release something that you can ‘Read’ and ‘Watch’. Not sure yet what you”ll be watching (A new film? A TV series?), but what you’ll be reading is the Dark Horse comic book Alien :Resistance, which is out on 23 January 2019.

Alien: Blackout is released on 24 January 2019.
