Ever since the original game was released for the Amiga back in 1991, a version of Lemmings has appeared on almost every single format. Sony has now announced a new Lemmings game available for mobile devices.

As to why this is coming from Sony, they acquired the publishers of the original game, Psygnosis, back in the 1990s. The new iteration is developed by Sad Puppy and has the Lemmings exploring the universe to find a new place to call home, following an environmental catastrophe which has left them without one.

Developed with mobile devices in mind, the levels are designed to be played in portrait orientation. Levels are grouped into different planets, each one with its own unique theme. Sad Puppy also boast that the game features “more levels than every previous Lemmings game combined.” There are also the Lemmings themselves which you can assign with the usual abilities so that they can dig, climb, build and float their way to the exit. Plus, there are unique tribes of Lemmings that you’ll encounter, with more tribes to be added in the future.

While the game can be played for free, there are microtransactions.

Lemmings is out now for iOS and Android.
