ORION Live UK announces Indie, Idol & Infamous tour

ORION Live UK announced that they will be holding an Indie, Idol & Infamous tour of Japanese idols performing in the UK. They include the return of DoubleAnd, and for the first time 14th Generation Toilet Hanako-san and GARUDA.

DoubleAnd (2&) was originally a duo, however, when fellow member Saya left, Saki carried on with the name. The underground idol was also a former member of the now disbanded Guso Drop. DoubleAnd was a part of ORION Live’s Black Winds Over Albion tour earlier this year (alongside Screaming 60s and NECRONOMIDOL). She has uploaded a video of her performance in London so you can have a feel of what to expect.

Hanako-san is based on the Japanese urban legend of a ghost clad in a red skirt that haunts school bathrooms. In an interview with JpopRocks, she described her music as “hardcore.” Her live shows have seen her throwing toilet paper and food at her audience, spurting whatever she’s drinking into the faces of her fans and whacking an iphone out of the hands of someone recording her performance. Unfortunately, most of the videos of Hanako-san performing have been removed from YouTube, but IDOL 2.0 still have this nugget up on Facebook.

Probably the closest thing to an industrial idol (or the only one?), GARUDA, aka Sakimura Yuffie, is also a member of the group Melon Batake a go go. She released her first ‘official’ single, Mousugu Yukiga, back in the summer, with tracks written by NECRONOMIDOL guitarist/collaborator Mr. Perkele. You can check out the music video for Mousugu Yukiga, with GARUDA donning a black dress and plague doctor mask, which she has also worn during her live performances.

The tour takes place in April 2019. Dates and venues below.

20 April: London – The Water Rats
22 April: Manchester – The Night and Day Cafe
23 April: Birmingham – The Sunflower Lounge

Tickets for the London show cost £15 in advance and £17 on the door. For Manchester and Birmingham it’s £10 in advance and £12 on the door. There is also a VIP option for £25. Tickets go on sale on 18 January 2019 via eventbrite. You can also check out ORION Live’s Facebook page for the event for further details and updates.
