Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 announced

The conclusion to the Avengers series is not the only upcoming superhero media getting its own trailer today as it’s also been announced that Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 will be coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch in 2019.

The debut trailer, which premiered at last night’s Game Awards, introduces us to the first game in the Marvel Ultimate Alliance series for a decade.

Again, it appears to be a local and online multiplayer action-RPG in which heroes from across the Marvel universe can team up to take down infamous villains. The big bads in question are known as The Black Order and are lead by none other than Thanos himself.

“The game will feature an original story and a playable cast of dozens of Marvel superheroes, including the Avengers, the X-Men, and – for the first time in series history – the Guardians of the Galaxy,” reads the official announcement.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the announcement, though, is that Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 is going to be a Nintendo Switch exclusive. It seems strangely limiting for a game that would have such massive appeal, especially after how well-received and good fun the previous two entries were in the series. Oh well!

Development duties are being handled by Team Ninja, who are best known for their work on the Dead or Alive fighters and Ninja Gaiden series. That should guarantee a bit of flash and pizazz to the game’s combat, then.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order is scheduled for release on Nintendo Switch in 2019.
