After the success of Jordan Peele’s Get Out ($255 million worldwide and an Oscar to Peele for Best Original Screenplay), everyone has been waiting to see just what he follows up with. Returning to the horror genre, Universal Pictures has used Christmas to deliver the chilling first trailer for Us.

Adelaide Wilson (Lupita Nyong’o) returns to her beachside childhood home for summer, along with her husband, Gabe (Winston Duke), and their two children (Shahadi Wright Joseph and Evan Alex). Haunted by an unexplainable and unresolved trauma from her past, Adelaide feels her paranoia growing, as she becomes increasingly certain that something bad is going to befall her family. When darkness falls, the Wilsons discover the silhouette of four ‘familiar’ figures holding hands standing in their driveway.

The trailer is eerie, with its share of jump scares and has lots of bunnies. You’ll also never hear Luniz’s I Got 5 On It in quite the same way again.

Written, directed and produced by Jordan Peele, the film also stars Elisabeth Moss, Tim Heidecker, Cali Sheldon and Noelle Sheldon.

Us opens in the UK and US on 15 March 2019.
