Even if most of the Final Fantasy 14 player base is caught up in the excitement waiting for the release of the Shadowbringers expansion next year, there is still a whole bundle of new content to come first in Patch 4.5.

Today, Square Enix released a brand new trailer for the forthcoming update, giving us a glimpse at the conclusion to the Stormblood storyline and what new features we can expect to see when A Requiem For Heroes arrives on January 8, 2019.

The biggest new addition is the selection of Main Scenario Quests that will tell the first half of the climax to the Stormblood storyline. The concluding half will follow in a later update around March 2019.

For now, a new trial will be added in Patch 4.5 too. The encounter with Seiryu will be available in both Normal and Extreme difficulties and will wrap up the Four Lords quest series. There is also a new instanced dungeon named The Ghimlyt Dark and the last part of the Return to Ivalice 24-man raid dungeon called The Orbonne Monastery.

New Custom Deliveries will be added for gatherers and crafters, there will be added features in The Gold Saucer, plus a whole host of new Minions, Hairstyles, Emotes, and Mounts.

Lastly, Patch 4.5 will see the introduction of the Blue Mage class, which was recently unveiled at the Final Fantasy Fan Fest in Las Vegas.

Square Enix has also confirmed that Patch 4.55 and Patch 4.56 will add further content to the game in the coming months, including the Hydatos Expedition of Eureka, new PvP content, further Hildibrand Adventures and extra Stormblood Beast Tribe Quests.

That should do a pretty good job of keeping you busy until the release of Final Fantasy 14: Shadowbringers. The third expansion to the MMORPG is expected to be released in Summer 2019.

As for Patch 4.5: A Requiem for Heroes, that arrives in Final Fantasy 14 on January 8.
