Black Mirror season 5 release date revealed via leak

Rumors surrounding the Black Mirror’s fifth season have been bounded about since the minute fans finished consuming the six episodes of season four. However, fans have been whispering about Charlie Brooker’s epic tech-themed Twilight Zone-style series even more just recently.

In October, Bloomberg reported that Netflix would include an interactive “choose-your-own-adventure” in the show’s newest season. Then, in November, Brooker shut down rumors that new episodes would revisit the worlds of “White Bear” and “San Junipero,” two very popular episodes of the show.

Now, according to the Mirror, we have a release date leak from a verified Netflix account on Twitter…December 28.

The tweet, which has now been deleted, also appears to indicate that the title of the premiere will be, “Bandersnatch.”

This date matches last year’s exactly, falling on the final Friday of the year.

According to the Mirror, when the show was filming in Croydon earlier this year, not only was the set full of 80s throwback shop fronts, a sign on a door in the area included the word ‘Bandersnatch’, so that adds more weight behind that being true.

Of course, this may not be true, but based on previous seasons being released in December, it seems a good bet we’ll be ending the year by delving into another disturbing, thoroughly enjoyable technological dystopia.
