It’s a bumper week for Anime Limited with films Fireworks and Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion I – Initiation both hitting shelves today along with the second half of March Comes in Like a Lion Season 1 and a Blu-ray edition of Love Live! Sunshine!!.

Available as a Blu-ray/DVD collector’s edition as well as on standard DVD and Blu-ray, studio Shaft’s magical realist romance Fireworks sees school friends Norimichi and Yusuke competing in a swimming race to win the favour of their beautiful classmate Nazuna, when a mysterious glowing orb offer the loser a chance to change history.

Currently exclusive to AllTheAnime.com and Zavvi.com as a Blu-ray collector’s edition, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion I – Initiation is the first of studio Sunrise’s trilogy of films celebrating the 10th anniversary of the classic Code Geass franchise, retelling the events of the two TV series with new scenes added and a re-recorded voice track.

Also released as a Blu-ray collector’s edition, March Comes in Like a Lion: Season 1, Part 2 features episodes 12-22 of Shaft’s Japanese chess-themed coming-of-age drama, with teen shōgi prodigy Rei Kiriyama facing a whole host of new challenges – both on the chessboard and his personal life.

Meanwhile, Love Live! Sunshine!!, Sunrise’s sequel to smash hit school idol anime Love Live!, is out today on standard Blu-ray. Inspired by the success of μ’s, the show sees 16-year-old Chika and her friends at the seaside Uranohoshi Girls’ Academy form an idol group of their own – Aqours. You can check out our review here.

It’s not all Anime Limited this week, though – MVM Entertainment also makes today’s new release roster with Higurashi: When They Cry – Kai. The 24-episode second season of Studio Deen’s horror mystery, Kai continues the murderous misadventures of high schooler Keiichi and his friends, as Hinamizawa’s bloody cycle of madness and betrayal rolls on.
