Toy Story 4, first teaser promises comedy, chaos and a sentient spork

Sometimes good things come to those who wait. We were recently treated to a long-overdue sequel to The Incredibles and now, finally, we’re getting a glimpse of another long-overdue sequel, Toy Story 4.

Catching everyone unaware, Disney dropped the first teaser trailer for Toy Story’s next installment this morning and cryptic as it is, it’s also a sign of things to come.

According to the blurb, Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called “Forky” to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy.

Directed by Josh Cooley (Riley’s First Date?) and produced by Jonas Rivera (Inside Out, Up) and Mark Nielsen (Inside Out), Toy Story 4 hits theaters June 21, 2019.

While the teaser doesn’t give much away, according to the IMDB, Tom Hanks claimed that the ending was emotional and “a moment in history.” He also added that he couldn’t face the crew while recording his final lines because he got emotional with them. This came around six weeks after co-star Tim Allen said he couldn’t get through the last few scenes because of how emotional they were.

Tissues on stand-by. If it’s half as emotional as Up, then I’ll be blubbing like a baby.
