A second teaser trailer has been released for director Rupert Wyatt’s Captive State, which wants you to know that, “Everything they’re telling you is a lie.”

It’s been a decade since the Earth was occupied by an extra-terrestrial force. Focusing on a Chicago neighbourhood, Captive State explores the lives on both sides of the conflict – the collaborators and dissidents.

The new teaser starts out similar to the first, as a propaganda video, only to suddenly be hacked by a resistance group to tell you that “it’s a lie.” The group asks you to join them, watch for the signs and that The Phoenix (their name?) will rise. The more eagle-eyed will notice that people are being kept in their place by implants and that the film is set in 2027.

The film stars John Goodman, Machine Gun Kelly, Vera Farmiga, Ashton Sanders, Jonathan Majors and Madeline Brewer.

Captive State opens in the US on 29 March 2019 and in the UK on 12 April 2019.
