Netflix has been working with Korean studio Astory for some time to bring a fantastical zombie series to life…and now we’ve got our first look…

Kingdom is set at an unspecified point in the five centuries that make up Korea’s Joseon Dynasty – one of the most culturally influential periods of Korean history. It’s directed by Kim Seong-hun, and follows a young prince struggling to deal with the passing of his father. Except his father hasn’t exactly passed…because he’s risen from the dead – something being kept secret from the prince and Korea at large until the inevitable happens, throwing the country into chaos as it deals with the usual problems an invading horde of unstoppable zombies usually brings.

Zombie fatigue is already a common condition and The Walking Dead has sailed far beyond is Sell By Date, so this movie might have to work a little harder. However, the unusual setting could actually make a difference – it’s more Shogun than Shaun of the Dead.

Kingdom is set to hit Netflix January 25.
