This week sees fan fave figure skating anime Yuri!!! On Ice glide gracefully into stores courtesy of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Released as a DVD and Blu-ray combo edition, the 12-episode series stars 20-something skater Yuri Katsuki, who is ready to hang up his skates after suffering a crushing defeat at a Grand Prix Final. However, he decides to give the sport one more try when his idol, five-time champ Victor Nikiforov, offers to be his coach.

Produced by animation studio MAPPA (Kids on the Slope, Punch Line), the critically-acclaimed Yuri!!! On Ice is helmed by Sayo Yamamoto, who also directed Michiko & Hatchin and Lupin the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, and features choreography by former professional figure skater Kenji Miyamoto. Extras on SPHE’s home video release include the Yuri Plisetsky GPF in Barcelona EX – Welcome to the Madness OVA.

Manga Entertainment is in a shonen mood this week, with the fifth instalment of Dragon Ball Super and the digitally-remastered Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie both out on DVD and Blu-ray.

Featuring episodes 53-65 of the Dragon Ball franchise’s latest TV adventure, Dragon Ball Super Part 5 opens with Goku, Beerus and Whis heading to Universe Ten in search of Goku Black. Meanwhile, English-dubbed 2004 film Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie sees our hero Yugi confronting ancient horror Anubis, recently revived and out to destroy the world using the power of the Shadow Games. The film is also available in a triple pack alongside two more recent Yu-Gi-Oh! movies – 2010’s Bonds Beyond Time and 2016’s Dark Side of Dimensions.

Not exactly anime, but also out from Manga UK today are seasons 13 and 14 of long-running Rooster Teeth sci-fi animation Red vs. Blue. The final instalment of the Chorus Trilogy, Red vs. Blue Season 13 is available on both DVD and Blu-ray (RRP £15.99), while anthology volume Red vs. Blue Season 14 hits shelves as a DVD/Blu-ray Combo Pack.

MVM follows up last month’s Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works Blu-ray release with the second half of the fantasy series, which opens with show protagonist Shirou separated from his Servant, blonde battle maiden Saber, who is being held captive by Caster.
