Manga Entertainment starts the week shonen style with a trio of releases from fan fave franchises One Piece, Dragon Ball and Pokémon.

Out today on DVD, Pokémon Movie 17-19 Collection: XY features three movies from the XY generation – the final films before the franchise’s reboot with last year’s I Choose You!Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction (2014) sees Ash and friends help Mythical Pokémon Diancie stop rampaging Legendary Pokémon Yveltal; Hoopa and the Clash of Ages (2015) sees our heroes meet Mythical Pokémon Hoopa, a mischievous Pokémon who gets seriously out of control; and Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel (2016) sees Ash and Mythical Pokémon Volcanion forced to work together to rescue artificial Pokémon Magearna.

Available on both DVD and Blu-ray, Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters Part 1 features episodes 99-121 of Toei Animation’s revised and remastered take on the original DBZ series. Covering the World Tournament Saga arc, this latest instalment opens seven years after the defeat of Cell, with the Z Fighters having returned to (comparatively) normal life. However, adventure is on the way in the shape of 25th World Martial Arts Tournament, as Goku and pals reunite to test their strength against Earth’s greatest warriors. Meanwhile, diminutive alien wizard Babidi has nefarious plans to revive the evil Majin Buu…

The third Manga UK release of the week is One Piece: Collection 19 on DVD. Featuring episodes 446-468 of Toei’s long-running piratical romp, this volume sees the finale of the Impel Down storyline, with Luffy breaking back out of prison just as the ambitious Blackbeard and his crew bust their way in, and the start of the Marineford arc, where Luffy and Blackbeard’s old commander, the powerful Whitebeard, must race against time to prevent Ace’s execution at the hands of the Marines.
