Anime Limited kicks off the week with the release of K: Missing Kings, out as both a standard DVD and a Blu-ray/DVD collector’s edition. Set in a hi-tech alternate Japan where seven elemental Kings and their colour-coded clans jostle for power, this feature-length sequel to fantasy series K opens with the Red Clan in disarray and protagonist Shiro missing.
Produced by animation studio GoHands (Mardock Scramble, Coppelion), the style-heavy K: Missing Kings is helmed by Shingo Suzuki, who also directed both K Project television series. The movie’s story slots between K’s first season and its 2015 follow-up K: Return of Kings, which will also be getting a release from Anime Limited later this month.
Today’s other new anime arrival is Manga Entertainment’s DVD and Blu-ray reissue of the late, great Satoshi Kon’s 2003 film, Tokyo Godfathers. Co-written with Keiko Nobumoto (Cowboy Bebop, Wolf’s Rain), the warm-hearted comedy follows a trio of homeless people who find an abandoned baby on Christmas Eve.
