This week’s anime releases see MVM Entertainment enrol in Battle Girl High School, releasing the 12-episode sci-fi action series on Blu-ray. Adapted from a mobile game, Battle Girl High School sees cheerful 16-year-old Miki Hoshitsuki and her classmates at the Shinjugamine Girls Academy fighting mysterious invaders known as the Irousu.

Produced by animation studio Silver Link, Battle Girl High School is directed by Noriaki Akitaya (Bakuman, Active Raid) with series composition by Yōsuke Kuroda, best known for his work on shows such as My Hero Academia, Excel Saga and Honey and Clover.

Manga Entertainment serves up sci-fi of a different flavour with a re-release of Ghost In The Shell 2: Innocence, out today on DVD and Blu-ray. The follow-up to Mamoru Oshii’s classic 1995 cyberpunk anime, 2004 movie Innocence once again sees Oshii at the helm, but this time centres on Major Kusanagi’s colleague Batou. Partnered with Togusa, the youngest member of Section 9, Batou is tasked with investigating a series of murders committed by malfunctioning sex robots known as gynoids.

Also out from Manga UK today are volumes four and five of Rooster Teeth’s anime-style fantasy adventure RWBY. Out on DVD and Blu-ray, the new releases follow the adventures of heroines Ruby, Weiss, Blake and Yang following Season 3’s catastrophic Fall of Beacon and the separation of Team RWBY.

Not to be left out, Anime Limited gives us a standard Blu-ray edition of fanservice-heavy fantasy series The Testament of Sister New Devil. Adapted from a light novel series by Tetsuto Uesu and Nekosuke Ōkuma, the Production IMS show follows the ecchi adventures of high schooler Basara Tojo and his cute new stepsisters, buxom redhead Mio and petite trickster Maria …who also happen to be a demon lord and a succubus.
