Asmodee Digital’s adaptation of acclaimed tabletop game Terraforming Mars will be heading out of beta and onto Steam on Wednesday 17 October, the publisher has announced.

One of the biggest board game hits of 2016, Jacob Fryxelius’ Terraforming Mars sees players take on the roles of corporations charged with making the Red Planet habitable for humanity, racing to boost oxygen levels, build cities, create oceans, plant vegetation and research innovative new technologies.

Developed by LuckyHammers, who are also handling Asmodee’s videogame adaptation of Lovecraftian tabletop title Mansions of Madness, the turn-based Terraforming Mars features local and online multiplayer for up to five ambitious astro-engineers, as well as a dedicated solo mode that challenges lone corporations to complete their terraforming goals before the end of generation 14.

For players seeking a more complex game, there is also a ‘Corporate Era’ variant featuring two new corporations, new cards and a greater focus on economy and technology, while Asmodee Digital also promises additional content to come after launch.
