Exciting news today as a new Pokémon has been discovered! Following the steady reveal over the last few weeks since Meltan first arrived in Pokémon Go, we now know that the nutty little fella can evolve into Melmetal, making it the first mythical Pokémon known to evolve.

More information is revealed in a silly video starring Professor Willow and Professor Oak, but essentially what we’re looking at is a bulky beast made up almost entirely of hex nuts. Someone probably raided the toolbox before being inspired to create this one…

The blurb reads: “Because of its Evolution from Meltan, its body has hardened and is now incredibly sturdy. Melmetal is made of liquid metal, and its flexible arms can be whipped forward to deliver a devastating punch. It can also execute a powerful, unique Steel-type physical move known as Double Iron Bash.”

In order to evolve Meltan into Melmetal, which can only be done in Pokémon Go, you’ll need 400 Meltan Candies. You can acquire these by catching Meltan in the mobile game and trading them to Professor Willow or by selecting Meltan as your buddy Pokémon. In a cool twist, you’ll then be able to explore the Kanto region with Melmetal by transferring him over to Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! for Nintendo Switch.

Both of those games are due for release on 18 November.
