Billed as the ‘most comprehensive collection of D&D imagery ever assembled’, lavishly-illustrated new book Dungeons & Dragons Art & Arcana: A Visual History is published today by Penguin Random House’s Ten Speed Press.

Authored by Kyle Newman, Jon Peterson and brothers Michael and Sam Witwer, the 448-page hardback is the officially-licensed illustrated history of D&D, featuring more than 700 pieces of artwork from the early days of Gygax and Arneson to the current Fifth Edition.

Delving deep into private collections and the archives of D&D publisher Wizards of the Coast, Dungeons & Dragons Art & Arcana: A Visual History takes the reader on a guided tour through five decades of the hugely-popular role-playing game via a treasure trove of images, from rulebook covers, magazine illustrations and never-before-seen sketches to videogame screenshots, rare photographs and classic advertisements.

The book is also available as a boxed special edition, featuring re-creations of iconic Dungeons & Dragons artwork ready for framing as well as a pamphlet-sized, unpublished original version of infamous party-wiping adventure ‘Tomb of Horrors’ by D&D co-creator Gary Gygax.
