With Warner Bros having acquired the rights to a US feature film adaptation of Attack on Titan, it appears that they are moving ahead with the project, having already announced their director to take on the titans.

As reported on Variety, It director Andy Muschietti will direct the film for Warner, with the studio having recently finalized a deal with manga publisher Kodansha. Muschietti is currently filming It: Chapter Two.

Based on Hajime Isayama’s manga series (with over 76 million copies in print), Attack on Titan has become a worldwide phenomenon, with a successful anime series (currently in its third season), OVA’s and three video games. It also saw two live-action films released in Japan in 2015, both of which differed from the source material slightly and fared poorly with fans.

The US adaptation will be produced by David Heyman (Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts), Masi Oka (Death Note and Mega Man) and Barbara Muschietti (It and Bird Box).
